A PORTFOLIO ???

The Past

Yes, as a Software Engineer (Computer Programmer+++), it is difficult to really have a portfolio... But a lot of my work has had some GUI (Graphical User Interface) to look at... So I thought, hell, a portfolio isn't that krazy of an idea >;^)

A graphical look at my resume...

More Past Stuff

Video games have always been part of my life. I remember seeing (and playing) the first video game ever - a huge tic-tac-toe game created for the United Stated Government. I ended up having one of the programmers as a professor in collage. When home units and consoles started to come to the market, I saved my money and purchased them. Also, when the home PC was invented, I used mine (a TI 99/4A) to create games to play at home. These were usually ports/remakes of games I had seen on some of the larger UNIX machines at school. I have since then always had at least one console attached to my TV at home.

All of these games that I originally made and modified have been lost over the years. Computers themselves have changed by leaps and bounds. I have started to play PC games with some friends every other Friday. And in my free time, I have once again been 'playing' with mods to some of the video games...

I wrote this tool for a friend who uses AOL Instant Messenger (AIM). Smiley Grabber is a convenience program to create Smileys for AOL Instant Messenger 5.x. Using a simple Cut and Paste interface, one can copy the AIM Smiley codes from Simley Grabber and paste them into any AIM Instant Messenger, Chat, or Profile Window. The tool was written in JAVA (J++) using Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 in a few days. As luck would have it, AOL released an update to AIM a few weeks later with this mod built-in.
