BD Technologies!
is not resting on it's laurels,
but continues development for the Hawk Community!!!
Every BD Technologies! product is thoroughly tested in the most stringent test environments.
I'd like to lay out some new products, really wicked, cool, cheap stuff that everybody will want,
parts with no liability issues.
I did pick up a Ritter tank, and damn, is it slick.
It has the worst paint I have ever seen in my life,
so I won't have to feel bad about taking the paint off to see what is underneath.
It's my intention to copy it, but so far I can't even tell where the separate pieces are.
The additional drain tubes underneath are evident.
I've got a battery box in process to pull the battery up and tighter to clear out the area
between the swingarm and the tail, and the fuel pump is going under the tank.
The battery box should be a nice product.
In light of the fact that none of the big m/c companies, or little ones, for
that matter, have built a suitable NewHawk, we've decided to take matters
into our own hands. There are a number of Hawk derivatives that simply must
be built.
SuperHawkGT: VTR engine in a stock appearing HawkGT, with the exception of
maybe side mounted radiators, if necessary. Might require mating of two hawk
frames, having some kind of trellis hanging down from the bottom of the
lower edges of the frame rails. Engine width/placement may necessitate
notching the inside of the frame, leading to significant in between frame
rails gusseting. May simplify swingarm configuration, since the VFR swinger
bolts to the VTR engine, but that's not a very pure way to go, we'll try to
run a stock GT swingarm. Should undercut the VTR's weight significantly. An
RC51 engine might be a better choice, but they don't seem to be going for
$500 on ebay, do they?
HawkTL: a TLR engine in a stock appearing HawkGT. Not pure in a Honda sense,
but who can argue with 120 hp, that is, until your frame cracks in half?
Should solve any power issues, but fuel range would be down to what, 60
miles? That's a sacrifice we are willing to make. A BDTech tank should get
that back up to 100.
Sachs Beast Hawk: Something appearing very similar to the Sachs version,
only with the heart of a GT. Mostly motor, an aluminum or carbon fiber
backbone running over the engine, possibly with holes for the air filters,
or 90 deg angled filters. Might need to sacrifice a HawkGT headstock to
simply manufacture of the backbone. Some kind of wispy tailsection, likely
just aluminum tube arrangement with a token seat and taillight. Tank might
need to be custom made, or hawk tank narrowed to fit the uber narrow theme.
Running gear is undecided, should almost be motard type stuff for thinness,
but V1.0 will likely run GT parts, due to availability and good karma
association. Might make a terrible trackbike, but should look like hell
incarnate. Nobody has ridden the Saches Beast yet either, have they?
Hawk426: a YZ400/426 (maybe XR400 engine) in a stock appearing GT, exhaust
routed BDTech style down under the engine. Engine selected for light weight,
but mostly for it's glorious thump. Shouldn't weigh much, might deserve a
carbon fiber tank. An easier choice would be an available XT600 motor, but
that's been done b4 and just doesn't sound right.
Where you fit in: a number of parts need to be procured, mainly some junk
engine parts for the Beast hawk for prototyping, like junk cases, junk
heads, and junk valve covers. What have you got? Extra junk frames are
always nice to have, we might be breaking a few eggs b4 we make a nice
omelet. Have an extra poor condition frame that you would like to get rid
of?
So that's it for now, please let me know what you have, money, altho not
much, is waiting.
Where does one find a YZ400/426 engine? How much do they go for? I'm
guessing since these don't get totaled out in street wrecks, they aren't as
available? Will we have to buy a complete YZ just to get a complete motor
kit? Where to find an XR400 motor? Same problem?
